Signal 75: a beginner's guide

The idea

You work a numbered card as calls come in, marking matches and completing patterns. The faster and more accurately you mark, the more you score.

Where the points are

Completed patterns score. Speed matters because the round is short - a mark you spot late is worth the same as one you spot early only if you still complete the pattern in time.

Habits that help

• scan your card in columns rather than hunting at random
• know which pattern you are closest to finishing
• mark as soon as you see a match; do not wait for a batch
• keep your eyes on the card, not the clock

Common mistakes

Splitting attention across several possible patterns usually finishes none of them. Pick the closest one and commit.
